Show Birds???

I would asume that if some one brings in a hen and all the back feathers are gone from breeding they would just DQ it, there is no point on them judgeing.
From what i have seen at the shows that i attend, the ones that have really bad looking feathers i have seen DQ or they just dont judge them at all.

Some people enter any and all birds they own into the shows so that they can get the premiums from the show.

In several shows you can get money just for getting first, so if you enter a bird that's torn up and it's the only one there...you get money.

Yea, I was amazed how many there were too. I would guess, 100-200 birds and maybe 20 bare backers... I had thought about showing a really nice Barred Rock we have, but I did not want to go thru the work to "show clean" the bird. I mean I understand, it's normal for the hens... But I would be embarassed to put in in a cage for everyone to look at and say, "ohhh... look at that poor bird!"
