I posted this on this forum because i feel there maybe more breeders of show/exhibition chickens here.
I currently sell purebreed pekin bantam chicks and call ducks. I would love to get into more show breeds like seramas, polish, silkies, and maybe some long tailed breeds. I know a breeder near me that keep their show chickens in pens in a shed. I feel like this is a bit unethical for the chickens but correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe it's the best way to maintain better health and feather condition. Maybe it's the best way to track genetics. If anyone has pens for show chickens either indoors or outdoors, please show me. Also if anyone has success keeping show chickens in outside pens what breeds did you use. (I live in a fairly wet climate, but doesn't get too cold in winter or too hot in summer)

I breed silkies and this is what my hubby built for me. We have a regular coop too. I know the cages in a building some use like you mention, and that's not for me. There are four pens here and a couple of other outside pens with doghouse-type hutches in them for at night.

These pens are each 50 square feet outside, and 25 square feet inside. The building is an Amish-built shed, that hubby remodeled. The top and all sides are 1/2" hardware cloth.

This shows what each inside pen looks like while being built.

We leave the chicken doors open almost all of the time as the pens both inside and outside are secure.
