Haha I love that post M@M@2four!

BTW I got them from Purely Poultry the only one that had silkies for months. And I do think a few is crossed. They are all "blue" and some are having white feathers come in on the wings. I'm still having the poop problem....idk.

I'd really like to see more pictures of hatchery silkies

I added 5 straight run white silkies from My Pet Chicken to my LF order. Lost one and ended up with 2 pullets and 2 cockerels.
I think the girls are pretty cute for hatchery silkies. I was expecting much worse. One of the girls is broody at the moment.. she saw snow and decided she wanted to sit on eggs so I am letting her. I think the cockerels are hideous little monsters, and they crow ALL DAY.

Waiting for the snow/rain threats to stop so I can let em out into their run and get a couple of pics for ya.

Their run is covered, but these silkies will find the one little spot that is getting rained on and they will stand in that one spot and get soaked. Then when it's time to put them up for the night I'll find em soaking wet and I have to bring em in the house and let them sleep in a rubbermaid container that I use as a brooder. Now if there is a 10%+ chance for rain/snow I keep them locked in their house with the door to the run open and I put a grill/grating thing in front of the door so they can't get out. They're little boneheads I swear, either that or they are smart enough to know that if they get wet I'll bring em in the warm house for the night lol.

I know I always search on BYC of breeds I'm getting from specific hatcheries. So though this thread is mostly old, I'll contribute:

Here are my three silkies from Cackle Hatchery. They came in an assortment, I didn't specifically buy them. They mostly free range--they've done well and obviously I haven't lost them. The lighter, non-bearded buff has the nicest feathering (I assume).

I still have no clue if they're all pullets or not. They are 10 months old and I haven't heard any crowing nor found an egg.

White silkies from MPC

1-3 days old

pullets 2-3 months old when I first put them outside

Toki 9 month old pullet

Maddi 9 month old non-bearded broody pullet (sorry couldn't get a better picture)

9 month old cockerel (too ugly to be named lol)

They started laying at about 8 months
