Show me your blue eggs!

I just ordered 5 EE pullets from Cackle, and I know that there's some risk in going through a hatchery, but I can't wait to see what I get. It's like a box of chocolates....

I got 8 Easter Eggers from Cackle last spring. They all lay shades of blue and green eggs. Now I'm waiting some of their chicks to start laying (8 -10 more weeks)

Good Luck!

Taken outside with a bad cell phone camera.

Where can I get one of those egg color charts?

Ameraucana (blue), Silver pencil plymouth rocks (various tans)

Those dark green ones must be from Easter Eggers? Since Araucana's nas Amerucana's only lay blue eggs!

No, they're from Araucanas too. Both Araucanas and Ameraucanas do have a tendency to lay green eggs in some lines and/or colors. Especially Araucanas.

Draye,

I would not have posted my eggs as coming from my araucanas if they did not. Araucanas ideally should lay a blue egg. However due to many factors in their history, some lines lay green eggs and some lay khaki colored eggs. I do not lie about my eggs and I am not ashamed of my araucana eggs. Egg color is something I am actively working on and am happy to say color is improving each generation.

In fact in that pic. The brown/green egg was laid by a blue hen of mine and the more green colored egg next to it was laid by her daughter. That is a huge improvement in just one generation.
