Show me your cold-climate "pop doors" please!

We have double pop doors so that if a predator breaches one, the inner one is facing it without any hardware and can't be opened.
Run is also secrred with 1/2" mesh hardware cloth on three sides and under the perimeter.

They also open onto a platform, which is wonderful for winter exercise- they prefer to come out onto it, check the ground and decide whether to remain up or jump down. Treats either way!

I have exactly that on my website on the How I raise Chickens page. Its not the closest pic and old, but you can see them clearly. The top hinges so it can be opened up when you have them outside and they do not know what it is yet. We did attach the chute recently to the wall so they could not go behind it either though. It helps prevent the wind from whipping into the coop.

Another option, depending on the overall design of the structure, is to cover 2-3 sides of the run with plastic or plywood or whatever, so that the wind is prevented from whipping into the run in the first place.

This is true! I'm planning on doing the north side with that hard, plastic corragated stuff. Eventually, I will have my runs covered, as well...which should help. Last fall, I also planted a row of evergreen shrubs on the north side of the coop to help make a wind-break...

We put up 'snow boards' to cut the winter wind, on the bottom half of the run. We're thinking of leaving them on permanently. Makes a huge difference for them and for us when we're working in the run.

its larger than it looks in the photo and works quite well. It was a last minute kind of fix in the wind and snow. When its really bad, like I said, I slide the board behind the posts and just close them in tight.
