show me your droppings board, please!

My droppings board is about 11" wide (it was an old 1 x 12 I think). i'd have liked it to be about 1" wider to catch ALL the poop. It's removeable (just sits on cleats) for scrubbing, and covered with a scrap of vinyl flooring. we scoop a bit of floor litter -shavings- onto it to absorb the watery stuff and make scopping it off each morning easier.

Hope this helps.

How does the fake egg help new layers? I have one that lays in a nest on a table, and one that lays on the floor in the corner.

I moved my "cat litter bucket" nest to the corner that one of mine was laying in, the next day, BINGO in the nest box. If you have one that you can do that with it might help. I am going to start moving it little by little away from that corner and over by the other nests and hopefully she follows along.

Do they poop from the roost and the dropping board collects the poop?
This is a good ole thread. The board collects the poop from the roost because that's where the abundance of poop will be, and it makes it easy to remove.

It would be kindof cool to have a big roll of paper at one end and just rip off the used and pull the new over to the end. Like the examining table at the doctor's office.

Poop boards should be located higher than your nest boxes an preferably the highest spot for roosting through the night.
I have my 2x4 roost 3½ inches from my poop board.

I find the spacing ideal it saves the day when eggs are laid through the night while they are roosting.

I have my roost in cups and can just put them to one side when cleaning the board.

In my nest boxes I fold a feed bag to fit (nest boxes are 1 ft³). When a bag gets soiled; fold a new one; pop out the soiled; pop in the new.

Easy peasy!.

Chicken coop is salvaged 4x8 metal shed.

My roost over my poop boards is very similar to this photo (except my roost are resting on the lower 2x4).
I recently friction fit a piece of vinyl flooring over my poop board.it makes clean up even easier; Pop out; Scrap; Hose; Pop in.

Winter months even easier flex over compost bin DONE!

Easy peasy!.
