I've loved the Golden Phoenix since the first time I saw them. In general is there any special care that needs to be taken, or are the just like most other chickens?

I am still learning, I got them at Tractor supply in March. I figure extra protein to grow their tails out. I also read that they need special lighting to maximize tail length. For now I am just concerned with keeping them alive an healthy so I can breed them and sell them as pet quality chickens. I also want to cross them with Naked Necks and see if cutting back on neck and body feathers puts more energy towards longer tails.

I had to go call the local TSC before responding here. They'll have chicks again in a couple of weeks, but do not know what they are getting. You can bet I'll be the on day one looking out for Phoenixes

Cemani Farms has them listed for $175 per chick, up to $600 per adult.
(googling it was the first thing I did when I read his post )
