Show me your mixing bowl

I saw that same yellow bowl at the antique mall the other day

I see them often actually-sometimes a full set, isn't there 4 I think?

I use a big stainless steel bowl, that has a medium size that nests in it. I also have a cheap set of white plastic mixing bowls that I got as a Christmas present one time. I actually use the biggest to hold a bag of microwave popcorn-fits perfectly

The other bowl I like to use (no pictures right now) is a light blue one, with a decoration going around it-hot air balloons I think. It's similar to the yellow one posted, yet bigger I think, and it comes with a small dip bowl to match, and a little brass "stand" that holds the small bowl on the edge of the big one-good for chips and dip, but also works good for mixing. I picked it out of the leftover auction stuff, when we had the big estate sale for my DH's great aunt. Someone left that lovely set behind.

Hi,

I recently went through the whole thing about buying new mixing bowls. I have a lot of Tupperware (that I love) but I understand it's not good for whipping egg whites, as plastic tends to retain a bit of grease no matter how well you wash it. And beating egg whites will not work well with even traces of grease. Also, I don't believe the plastic will chill well, which is essential to whipped cream.

So my choices were pottery, ceramic, glass or stainless steel. Since I am a "klutz" and don't have a lot of storage, I quickly eliminated the breakable ones. So that left me with the stainless steel. The problem with those is that you can't put them in the microwave, but I have other things for that. So I purchased a set of beautiful OXO stainless steel bowls that are covered in white plastic on the outside and had a non-slip rubberized base. They are great bowls but...then I realized they can't go into the oven. I should have thought about this a bit more before I bought these.

So I bought two more all stainless bowls as, many times, I prepare foods somewhat ahead of time (such as mashed potatoes) and leave them in a warm oven until the rest of the dinner is ready.

Now I have too many bowls but I am making the best of it, as they are all nice and I do use them.

My suggestion is to carefully think over what you will be using your new bowl for so that you make the best choice.

Good luck!

Love the yellow bowl. I have a red and green one smaller that I bought at yard sales. Would love to find a big yellow. When i get a free min I will take some pics of my fav bowls here. Some of my favorite things came from yard sells. I have a green round platter i got for a dollar and I have really used it and also display it on my counter top.

I love yard sales!!! Julie, I would love to see some of your favorites!

Yesterday my mother and sister were hitting the antiques stores and they found me a yellow bowl! I haven't seen it yet but I am so happy!!!

I have the Pyrex set of 4 nesting mixing bowls from the 50s. I also have several Pyrex bowls with patterns. I have two in this pattern, although I don't have them in this picture:
