I haven't read all 8 pages, which I apologize for, so ignore me if this has been suggested before. But have you considered skipping the poop trays and doing deep bedding instead? (not deep litter, the moist composting method, but deep bedding, the dry method). It's the best if you're tired of cleaning up poop! That's what I do and I clean up poop exactly twice a year. It's awesome. The deep bed of shavings absorbs a ton, and when it stops absorbing (several months in), you throw more clean shavings on top. It doesn't smell and it's great.
I had to temporarily put a nesting box and a feeder under my roosts, when rearranging the space to isolate a broody in the other half of the coop and running out of room, and got a taste of what folks with poop boards might be dealing with (I've never used poop boards/trays of any kind). All I can say is - EW!!! Where has all this poop been up until now? The tops of the box and the feeder are absolutely covered in poop. The broody has been integrated with the flock now, so I'm taking the box and the feeder outta there and not looking back.
