My husband built this pen for my 12 bobwhites hatched in the incubator. Hard ware cloth on front and bottom, plenty of room for the heat lamps.

Hi,
I noticed you had a water bottle for your quail. How is that working for you?

I don't know about hooligan, but I have switched almost exclusively to water bottles. Quail can get their water stinkier faster than any other birds I have. The bottles don't waste too much, and keeps the water and cage much cleaner. In the cages with a solid bottom, i put a heavy saucer, like a planter saucer, under the spout. My only complaint is they are a little hard to clean.

What do you use for the bottom of the pop bottle waterers?

They use it but I do need to put something under it cause they make a mess just like their food. I came home to all their food under the pen....

The ones I got are not threaded. I expected them to be threaded. If they were, then they'd work fine. However, they fall off the stupid soda bottles as you flip them upright and try to put them in position in the cage. They won't stay on unless you have something to rest the spout on directly (a wire or something).

I use water bottles. It is a god's send. It algae/cyanobacteria starts to show, take a baby bottle brush and voila, clean again

Sport squeeze bottles or baby bottles?
