I have four female button quail in my aviary hoping to get a male soon

Ok so I am going for the wire, hung of the ground cages. I notice that most people have lots of wood in their designs for cages as well as brooders. Is it not a lot less sanitary to add wood? Shouldn't they be made completely out of wire? I just made a bunch of full metal rabbit cages so I was just planning on doing them similarly except with all 1/2 inch wire. I want the kind where the eggs roll out of the cage. Do u think the hole that they roll out of will be safe hung outdoors? I do live out in the country. Any advise or recommendations on this type of cage? Does anyone have any pictures of all wire cages? I will definitely make them big enough for them to have plenty of space.

Also, I was just planning on getting a plastic bin and modifying it for my brooder. Is there a better alternative? I would think it would not be as sanitary for wood but have seen people say they are building a wood one to upgrade from plastic bins.

Wire cages are the way to go. Wood is not unsanitary it's just not needed (depending on insulation requirements and climates. For the egg rolling spaces, you have to make sure you don't have rats. I did that style once and rats were coming into the cages eating the food and chewing up the quail.

The plastic bin for the brooder works... again based on location... they are fully feathered and ready to go outside by week 5 or 6. They are so messy and stink like hell. so I usually try to get them out of the house ASAP.
