Pics
they are button quail, other wise known as Chinese painted quail. yes they love millet sprays, especially when i hang yhem from the ceiling. they like to chase it around when it swings. that's interesting that your quail don't care for it, what kind are they?

Heres a few pics of my building. Its a old dog kennel. I still need to run power and water. But i got everything setup today. Tomorrow will be disinfecting and wash day. Then I can put some birds in it! I have currently about 150 white quail. And another 300 in the incubator.

OMG!!! I think i need to rethink my coop.

Does anyone run their quail on the ground in a tractor type enclosure? Or permanent coop on the ground? Something that simulates them being in the wild?

If so, Can we get some pics?

Thanks,

I have been following this persons blog for the exact reason you are looking for a ground coop. This is her latest one but she has another one in her older blog posts. She was even successful having a mama quail sit on eggs and hatch them. Something I am hoping will happen with mine. I am building a ground coop with hardware cloth on the bottom and will be able to move it to clean it. I'll post pics when it's finished.

I meant to reply to your post but didn't quote it. See above...
Forgot to tell you I will fill the bottom with sand hoping this will simulate a more natural environment and scoop out the poo like a litter box.
