Show me your quails!

Once a month I take the feeders off the cages and hose the whole thing down (including the birds if it's warm out). I use a stiff brush on the top and bottom of the wire real quick and I'm done. If it's cold out I don't hose the birds down I put them in another cage. Fair warning, if a bird is sick or weak and you hose it down, it will probably die. This can be seen as either good or bad I suppose but for me I consider it a good thing, eliminating a weak bird from the flock. The hose down can lead to a few stress eggs (no shell, or off color) at first but they get used to it.

Sorry to bug you, but how long does it usually take? We haven't had coturnixes before. Also, do you know any reputable breeders who will sell tuxedos? Thank you! Oh, and what do you start your quail chicks on? We have been trying to find a better feed then the one we are currently using for our chicks. Thanks again!

this is my best hen from my project pen of pied coturnix
