I have one serama rooster from Grady Taylor, and he is certainly no quieter than my silkies- just higher pitched.

I have a Serama roo that is also very loud . . . just higher pitched.

I have a very small OEGB roo. He has a very tiny crow. We can hardly hear him in the house unless all the windows are wide open.

I think the OP means an adult rooster who does not crow, so if one is just five months, that wouldn't necessarily be considered a non-crower, just a late crower. If the rooster is under a year old, he still has time to crow. My show type Barred Rock cockerel, Rex, did not crow until he was 6 months old, the latest I've ever had. I've also had one crow at just 4 DAYS old in the brooder. It would be one in a million rooster who just never starts to crow, even as an adult male, mating the hens and doing all other general rooster duties. We can always dream, I guess, though personally, I like my roosters' crowing, even at 3 a.m.

Im surprised in all these posts no one has mentioned silkies. Its TRUE that no roo does not crow but I would strongly suggest getting a silkie roo if necessary. I have had a few different types of roosters. By far my silkie is the quietest ive had. Hes the oldest(2yrs) and even when the other roos crow he does not join in. I have heard him crow twice in the entire summer. Maybe it was just him but silkies are known to be a quieter breed. Good luck with your search.
