if you have acess to them from the outside, don't just have a liftable top. they can open it and fly out and predators can get in. i have a latch on mine and thhat's all it takes.

Here's a pic of mine, to prevent them from roosting, I screwed on 2x4", cut slanted, to the top of the boxes, & then screwed on deflector boards, that cover the whole box, at an angle...

I found 2 old (milk carriers) this blue contraption and the girls love them!! I've seen 3 in at the same time...i placed them up high. Their roost is close to the box so they can enter easily without building anything extra. I put some mesh at the bottom to help keep the nesting material in better.

Also built regular nesting boxes 12x12.

I used a covered cat box until my collar bone healed and I could build some. Now the rabbit uses it as a den and he loves it.

For those of you that have front edges on the boxes, how do you keep the other birds from roosting there?
