show off ur cochins

Thank you MSbear. Congrats on getting some babies. I will hopefully get my own chick soon as well. These eggs came from another breeder. I will have to get good information on how much fluff to trim.

Beautiful Columbian Cochin and that sleepy peep is precious The other Mottled ones and the blues are a joy to see. This thread will be fun to watch, I am loving cochins more and more each day.

The only thing cuter than Cochin pics is Cochins with chicks pics-too precious for words!!
Jimnjay-got some blue mottles from the same breeder-wonder if they are related? (o: Not trimming yet-no babies. DD has 10 new chicks coming next weekend for a Matts breed project, trimming for more chicks is not a priority right now for us, but I guess it would be nice to be able to share. This is Pax and Joy.

These aren't very good pics, but there is nothing like watching a Cochin trapes around! They really are the clowns of the chicken world! Great pics guys!

This is Ghost he was around 10 or 11 years old, he just past away this last year.

The sad thing is I had just found him a beautiful Splash hen. He had so many feathers on his feet and legs it looked like he was wearing boots!

. Is the second on Mottled or Birchen or What? Beautiful! Good pictures everyone, Ghost is beautiful and the Sweeties are just great.

Sock Puppet, Because Cochins had excessive fluff they sometimes are not successful in making fertile eggs in spite of the effort to do so. You can often times fix the problem by trimming some of the feathers from around the vent area on both the male and female. Silkies often have the same problem. Otherwise Artificial Insemination is required and most of us are not real anxious to go that route.

Nzpouter, that buff columbian roo makes my heart pitter patter

Jiminjay, I think he's a mottled? ...just a lot more mottling than Im used to... very nice.

Ilovecochins, what a nice splash roo... and what a shame... it seems our favorites are always the ones to go. Better love them while you got them ...and get some babies while you can.
