Show off your Baby Chick Pics here!!

Oh wow! Your silkie hen looks identical to the ours! She was only 7 months old when she hatched out a total of 7 chicks. Started with a huge nest full of 17 eggs. She was absolutely amazing as a broody and now has been a great momma to the little ones as well. What breed are the babies she hatched? Here’s our girl and the dad. All the babies belong to her and him.

How beautiful! That's a beautiful little family! My silkie hen just had her one egg at the beginning of December. We had such a bitter cold I thought she wouldn't make it. I brought her inside and she hatched out on Christmas day. She was about 6 to 7 months old when she hatched her first chick. She's a very easy going mom and so gentle with me. I have another silkie and she's white. The chick is a mixed breed. The father is a rooster that I adopted last summer.

Gorgeous rooster by the way!!
That is too funny!!!! My 2 silkie girls are about a month apart in age. Both are so sweet natured and they actually know their names. Maggie is the white and Queen is the partridge. While Queen nested her egg she was inside for about 2 weeks. She claimed an empty vacuum cleaner box we had set outside to take to the dumpster. I fixed it up for her and she hatched out her chick in that box. She would come out once a day but I put training pads down and food and water nearby. Once her chick hatched she was so sweet about me seeing the baby and handling her after a few days. The chicks name is peep and she is one month old tomorrow. Sadly Queen has decided it's time for her to be on her own. Peep of course isn't ready to let go of her mom but within a few days I think she will be just fine. The father of her chick came over from a neighbors house one day and he just never left. Your silkies are gorgeous by the way! I love their puffy hair!

That’s so cool how she picked a box like that. Our girl had 17 eggs hidden in an old truck camper shell. Had no clue they were in there. We moved the whole plastic bin she had them in into the garage because of super cold temps. Would of never thought she could keep them warm enough but she did. Nothing but a heat lamp to give a little heat. Ours hatched right before Christmas. So are a little over a month old now. Their dad is a sizzle rooster so sure some babies will have the curled feathers. Very cool to meet someone with a similar flock. You have any others?

That’s sooo awesome!! They are almost identical to our two!! Love the top knot on the white one. We trim ours about once a year and it helps her see.
I trim my girls hair in the spring/summer time. They are free range so I want them to be able to see danger and just in general. I trim theirs maybe once a month or 2 months depending how much is over their eyes. In the winter it's cold and they typically stay in the barn or coop or nearby and don't seem to show the same vision problems as in the warmer months. I have no idea why that is. Maybe their fuzz grows faster during those times. I have other chickens but those 2 are my only silkies. I have an all rooster flock and another flock that consists of the orange rooster I showed you and 5 hens including the partridge mother hen. I am fairly new to this. I had chickens and other farm animals around as a child but this is all on my own right now. I'm learning things each day. I got my chickens summer of 2017.

these are the all rooster flock

I don't have recent photos of the other flock right now but when I get some I'll upload them. Do you have any other chickens? I find it ironic we have 2 silkies the same color and sex and the partridge are both mothers at the same age and both chose unique places to hatch chicks.
