Lol it's fine, we all have those days. I think you're​ right about Joy though, unless she's a Wheaten Ameraucana, but I'm not sure.

Thank you all! @PearlTheDuck - I also read the updated version (it was for free at our library, so I had to) of The Princess Bride.

@AZchickens17 - All the chicks pictured except for Joy we got from Hoover's Hatchery. When we went to TSC a few weeks ago they had Brown Leghorn chicks and they all looked exactly like Rosalie. She is a Brown Leghorn I'm pretty sure, unless we got her and my sister's Welsummer chick mixed up.

Joy should be a Americana of some kind. We got her from our local(ish) feed store, called Cow Town. There were Barred Rocks and Americana's in the bin. In the bin there were only Wheaton Americanas and only ONE brown Americana (which my sister got), and this white one, Joy. Joy was the only chick of about 30 or so who was not hyper and crazy acting LOL.

I don't know, you may be right about my little Joy. I love her though regardless of what breed she is!

I went through that with my first batch from Polk, OH (guess my mypetchicken order came from meyer).  The USPS didn't update their tracking information until many hours *AFTER* I got them.  It looked like someone set them down in OH on the edge of a loading dock and they just stayed there.  Now, that didn't turn out to be the case.  They were in route, but for whatever reason the USPS tracking just didn't show live time.  When they went to have me sign for the chicks, they couldn't even pull up the tracking number, so that has happened.

The second time the hatchery didn't send me the tracking number and I got a phone call at 10am Tuesday to come get them- USPS, sigh.  Same route, same everything.

So what to do:

Did you hatchery give your the address and phone number for the local postal distribution office?  They're usually not shipped thru to the actual post offices, like where you take a package.  Wouldn't want a bunch of chickies bouncing around in the little mail trucks in most cases!

After figuring out the "right one" to call - make it clear you're calling about live chicks - I got a supervisor at the distribution center on the phone and had her leave notes for everyone to call the minute they got there.  And they did.  They really called me at 4am or so to let me come pick them up - got the directions back to the parts of the delivery system nobody ever sees!

Actually I've had 2 shipments from Polk.  One shipped in October and the other one in April- both had a heating element in the bottom of the box and were fine.  The heat continues for sometime.

If they shipped Monday things are probably fine.  They've got their absorbed yolk to sustain them through a couple of days.  The hatchery I ordered from said Monday to Thursday they're still OK.

Thank you. You have given me hope that all is not lost. And yes I called the distribution center near me and they said they never have people pick up mail or packages or anything and that I have to get it through my post office. My local post office knows to call me the second they come in if they do come in. The first truck come at 5:15am. I'm afraid if they don't come tomorrow they will not make it. It's been freezing here in Massachusetts. After tomorrow I will have surpassed the very latest timeline for delivery and I will have to settle with Meyer. But I just feel so terrible that these poor chicks could be suffering. I know people buy chicks for many reasons and some won't understand why I'm so upset but to me they will be pets and I'm a crazy animal lover so I hate to think they are freezing or starving or dehydrating. But I hope you're correct and they arrive tomorrow. The waiting for the past few days is so hard plus I've been anticipating these chicks for months. Also I took Tues Weds Thurs day off of work so I could get them off to a good start

I'm sorry this happened I hate to say it but i would be surprised if they do show up, chicks have got lost in the mail before I would suggest calling Meyer again and getting​ your money back. Do you have any local feed stores you could get chicks from?

I've already called Meyer and they said to give it until tomorrow. If they don't come or if they are DOA I'll have to figure something else out. Most of the feed stores do straight run only and I cannot have roosters. I have a friend that will take any roosters I get but one or two is one thing. A 50/50 hen to rooster is another thing. She can't take like 8 roosters for me. Thanks
