Hello! I’ve been brainstorming for the past month - I desperately need to build a big coop. I started out with 19 chickens and 7 guinea fowl, now I’m up to 43 chickens and 14 guinea fowl!! :th
My adults chooks have a decently large coop and my guineas have a medium sized hutch. But, alas, I will need MUCH larger very soon. I have the wood and supplies, but I need ideas. So, please, post all of your big coops! I have around 10 roos and I quite like the idea of a bachelor pad for them for nighttime. I’m all for funky looking coops and I love the idea of having them OFF the ground - we’re in FL and we get swamped with the rain. And I desperately need ideas. I’ve succumb to chicken math.

Can you bring in fill to elevate an area so it drains, then place the coop/run on that? I deal with clay and hardpan and freeze/thaw cycles up on the hill I live on in NY. I converted my shed into a coop. I'm almost finished with the article but here are a few shots of what I built.

The attached run is totally predator proof with 1/2" HC with predator apron and a solid roof. The whole works is contained within a 1/4 acre electro-netted pen powered with a 10,000 volt charger. The door to the pen is opened all day for access to the pen. It is open in the above picture but the flock wanted to hang out inside the run for whatever reason.

You'd need something like 10' x 20' just for the chickens.
Easier to reduce your population, IMO.
Remember that chicken math must also include subtraction. ;)

We’re rehoming some roos, but overall, the quantity was deliberate. We have the space for the coop, I’m just fresh out of ideas. My guinea coop will need some expansion, but that’s covered. All of them have/will have free run of about 4 acres and plenty of grubs. :D
