Show off your birds!!!

I have a story... Okay so I went out to collect eggs this morning and put it in top of my nesting boxes (big mistake) Anyways, I come after I feed them and watch them hang around a little... One of my hens flies up and tries to land on my basket:barnie she comes flying down and my backer crashes landing on it's side :smack(not really) but then all my birds rush over trying to eat it. :thI also making a mad dash trying to save any survivors :flbut end up only having one out of seven surviving. :hitAnd that's the story of my very bad morning... P.S I ended up dumping there water on me to this morning by accident... :he :hit:th

On this post you can post pictures and tell story about you fabulous flock!!
She keeps starring at me!

So I've been trying for a broody hen for years. I wanted mine own hatches and I wanted them now.

This is the 11th chick (bantams don't count) to hatch on our farm, and s/he had some severe problems at hatch. Wasn't eating or drinking, had one leg twisted around, and was hatched a few hours too early to judge by the blood on her bottom.

I probably should have culled.

Instead, I put down feed and water so that the broody wouldn't leave, re-splinted her leg every night, sat out there for hours, coaxing her with chick crumble and boiled bantam egg, dipping her beak, and working her leg so that she could build up some muscle. And now she's the same size as the rest of her hatch, and just as much a cold, uncaring jerk who only follows me when I have feed.
