Show Off Your Brahmas!

Pics
Oh, you said the magic word. I've loved this group of Brahmas, partridge, blue partridge and one Dark Brahma hen. My rooster, Bash (Sebastian, character from "Reign"), is the biggest, calmest rooster ever. They do eat more than my long gone hatchery Brahma hens did, but they are also larger birds, from a breeder in NY, our BYC member brahmapapa. They do have their own thread, but I rarely pass up a chance to show off this big guy. The only bad thing about Bash is that he's so huge, he can't have just any hens, must have Brahma-size hens. My Marvin Stukel line Barred Rock hens are large enough, but they're too old at 7 years to put up with a young guy like Bash, even if they didn't have their own rooster they're comfortable with.

What colour would you call your hen betsy? Mine are identical.

Betsy is a blue partridge, but she apparently carries mahogany as her color is more reddish than Bonnie, who is also blue partridge. Her lacing is not as "contained" as Bonnie's. Bonnie has near perfect lacing, the better pattern for a blue partridge. Just like those two, my Brandy is the perfectly laced partridge, whereas Bailey has almost no lacing and molted in much darker than she originally was. Cora, the daughter of one of these hens, a partridge girl, has more penciling than lacing, but is much better than Bailey.

I’d love to get a bunch of brahmas but my mom said that I can’t get more than 5 chickens :rant:tongue And I’m already getting 4 sebright pullets, an Ameraucana pullet, an Araucana pullet, and a Cornish cross pullet for sure and hopefully I’ll get a Salmon Faverolles, Light Brahma, Dominique, & a Golden Campine.

Would you say mine are blue partridge?

It just one more chicken mum! Its hard to count ten hens when there running around. So you could possibly sneak 1-2 hens without being noticed!

No way could I sneak a chicken past my mother. She knew when I bought fish for my fish tank without her permission and she found out about the 3rd parakeet that I convinced my dad to buy me. I don’t want to push my luck too far, she really doesn’t want to have “problems” with the jerks next door :smackso I’ll stop at 11 chickens :D
