I know, its one thing to purposefully butcher a chicken thats whole life purpose was meat, but another to have a pet shake and die in your arms...and I'm not much of a chicken person.

Yeah,it was very traumatic watching pete, traumatic for anyone to watch any animal die in such a way

and I love both chickens and ducks, but I prefer ducks which is funny because we got chickens first and then were unsure about ducks and here I am now, wanting every duck on the planet

Aw! I want some Indian runners soo bad! What's your opinion on the breed? I've heard they're a great pet duck

My Runners were almost full grown when I got them, and absolutely petrified of people. They'd go out of their minds with terror when I walked up to the coop/run. It took them a long time to realize that I wasn't a threat, the only thing I can figure is they must have been chased a lot and harassed at their first home. They'll never be as tame as my Muscovy or Rouens, who were handled since babies, but they'll come up to me now, and I can walk by them and they don't run away. The thing I find absolutely fascinating about them, is that they move like a little military squad. They stay in a little tight knit bunch and they all move the same direction at the same time. I don't know who the leader of the formation is, but it's funny to watch them when they're first let out for the day, or when I go to lock them up at night. They all get in a little squad and go as a well orchestrated squadron.

Aw haha. I've heard that if not handled alot as ducklings they can become scared as adults. But if I get some I'll probably never put them down

Looks like your gonna be overrun with ducks

Just a note about saxony, if you really want them, there may be a waiting list because they are pretty rare. So you should find a hatchery now. I think Holldereads have em, but I dont know anywhere else
