Here's my favorite egg thus far!!!

Rhode Island Reds, Cuckoo Marans and California Whites
The brown egg in the front next to the white egg is from my hatchery Cuckoo Marans. It's only very slightly darker than the RIR eggs but pretty none the less. This is her third egg.

There are from about 13-15 laying hens (including the one pure Ameraucana pullet). There are about 48-50 eggs in that basket (and some strategically placed towels

), so "in theory" it'd be about 4-5 days, but more like a week and a half if you're only picking out the pretty ones! Normally, we sell just about every one as soon as they are laid for eating to co-workers but with the holiday break, we were able to stockpile a good supply!

Pure Ameraucana pullet eggs (blue!!)
Various Olive layers (some more BCM, some more Ameraucana)
Easter Egger (large pale mint)
Crummy BCMs (we're keeping for their orangeish color)
Pure BCMs (a few dark ones)
White Bantam eggs
Wyandotte (pale tinted)​

I have extreme egg envy!!!!

Okay, here's the deal: I am pretty sure I have (had?) my chick list all figured out for Spring, for starting my new flock for our new place. Now I am not so sure. I want rainbow in my egg basket, but also love a rainbow in my flock. PLEASE give a gal recommendations for a pretty AND productive basket? I will have room to start with about 20 hens, we will not keep roosters. And I MUST include at least one Salmon Faverolle because I loved my old ones so much!!! Alicefelldown and illia have got it going on, IMO, even though the rest of the photos are also stunning!

Traditional Brown - hatchery OK. Production Reds (sold as Rhode Island usually) would be a good choiceif you like friendly/inquisitive birds.

Sounds awesome! Do you think I will have any trouble getting chicks or laying pullets rather than hatching eggs? I have never dealt with an incubator and don't want my first batch coming that way.
