LOL... I will have to find that card, and Chicken Egg below... I found Mesa Chicken.

Mesa Chicken has a fun poem:

"Lo lord of layers proudly comb-crested
Hero to hens father to feathers
Crowing sun-caller weaver of wattle
Elder to eggs."
—Rooster Saga

I think it would make a fun, artsy farsty saying on a sign around a coop or in a rooster house.

LOL proves someone has humor in the RD part of MTG.

So sad the only chickens I can have right now are cards...

yeah I read that poem... actually really good. Sign would be a cool idea.

You need some chickens... You want them so bad you are writing on a chicken forum!

I know it's sad.

Well I decided this is a good chance to learn, learn, learn... I had them before, and miss them bunches. I want to actually breed next time around and have breeds I have not kept before. So thus my Q's... I love birds with spunk & high IQ, so games seem like a good fit there... Hulsey's seem real nice to me, I also like some of the Asian breeds, and long-tails... Utility wise I want to keep Naked Necks again fore sure.

I just get to drool over everyone's projects & birds here and learn more.

The various crosses people do help with the genetic stuff I read, as it gives me a visual on what happens.

I am starting to mull over coop ideas based on different breed needs, my coop sucked last time, so that is one area I want improved, and some good solid plans for set in my head and on paper.

I also would love to have a few Porcupine Birds, but I have no idea if you can even get them... just appeals to my mad scientist leanings.

It is so hard I drive by the feed store every day... and they have just put the baby chicks are in sign up! Argh... will power, must not bring home...

What is a porcupine bird????

These are examples of birds with what I understand in English is called Porcupine: These are Indonesian birds the Red one is a game cock. In Indonesia the name translates as "Iron Feather". Basically the feathers are mutated into hard spiny quills... I was thinking it was partial dominate but I found some info that it is autosomal recessive (pc). Obviously these birds would need to be protected from cold... but they are so weird looking.
