For the sake of convention I will write "brown red" to indicate a colortype and "Brown Red" to indicate a breed. We still have different ways to get brown red cocks that different because they start different colors as chicks or have different colored sisters and mothers.

I like brown reds because there is so much variation and gradients.

This year is the first year I had a stag/pullet come out looking like redquill even though I have no red quill bloodlines. It came from a mixture of brown red over bbr/birchen (golden hen).
