She got impacted crop while I was away and my wife wasn't able to get her cleared up. But the other five pullets and four stags are doing really good. They're 4 1/2 moths old and starting to fill out. One of the stags is crowing, if that what you want to call that pathetic sound he makes!

I haven't taken any pictures lately so I'll try to get some tomorrow.

As promised my young Asil pics.

All you oriental game experts out there, please give me your honest opinions. I'd like to know if they are as nice as I think they are. I've not raised any orientals before. So I don't want to get a false sense of confidence about these.

They`re lookin real good, Chief. That stag and a few of the pullets look outstanding. Of course looks are only about half the battle, but they have a great start. If they turn out as well as they look, you will be more than pleased. Out of all the gamefowl that I have had over the years, I`m really partial to Asils. Nothing like them, in my book.......Pop

BTW: I know a good friend that has excellent white Asils, if you want to add some new blood someday.........P

Thanks Pop. I think as far as the type, & conformation goes there are three pullets and two stags that are superb. The stag in the fourth pic has been a "man amongst boys" since they hatched. He is awesome physically, and really runs the show. I think that he's the reason the "boxing" has been minimal. As soon as there is a showdown, he comes and clears em out! But he does have a flaw. His beak curves to the side. Actually, if you look close enough you can see that his whole head has a curve tward that side. I don't believe it to be genetic since none of the others show any sign of similar issues. I think that it is due to the fact that I did not turn the eggs during incubation. I candled the eggs when I got them in the mail and the air cells were in terrible shape. So I was afraid if I turned them most of them wouldn't have hatched.
I plan to use him in the brood pen early and watch to see if he passes it on. I would probably have culled him early on if he had been hatched under normal conditions. The other stag is some what a late bloomer. In the last month or so he has really come together.

I'm definitely interested in your friend that has them too. Since all of these came from the same farm, I'll want to have some unrelated blood to cross.

look very nice cant wait to see them when they get bigger post more pics !!

Hey Chief thanks for posting the pics, birds look great to me but I am far from an expert. Here are my white assils I was told they where Pakistanian? But not sure exactly what that means?

Pop I too would love to add some new blood come next spring, I will be sure and let you know. Right now I have these four hens/pullets (that just started to lay) and two stags the one in these pics and one that lost an eye in a brooder battle and for now lives with the free range flock mostly layers and a few barn yard roos. Am I right to assume that once he turns on, I will come home to find the barn yard roos humble, and maybe brused?

Ok so while I had the camera out here are my Shamos, please as always feel free to educate me as to what I may have? I ended up keeping 4 stags (two different lines), and 7 hens/pullets (some of them have just started to lay). Also would love to add some new blood once I know better what I have. Hey Chicken Love 54 I would love to see how the ones you kept are turning out?

Thanks. Your look good too. How old are they and how big? It may just be the pics, but they look pretty big to me. I don't think mine are supposed to get that big.

Pretty early to tell how big they will be, but I`m sure P&J will be along to give us some weights on those stags. I had a Pakistani hen that I got from a breeder in CA. She was as large as my Rampuri cocks and her offspring were heavier. Of course Asils come in weights from 4 to almost 16 lbs, depending on type. My Rampuris are the Reza type, meaning they cock out at under 6 1/2 lbs. You guys both have been blessed with some god looking birds. Congrats.......Pop
