Show Off Your Games!

I personally like the Red Dun color of the second rooster, I would be interested in seeing more pictures of this bird as it grows and would like to see the offspring out of him and the two hens. I have not seen this color pattern before, is it something you bred for or is it just something that popped up? They look like games to me but I have only been raising chickens for about 40 years. The second stag looks like he could be a lighter variation of a Pumpkin Hulsey. The first one looks just like some of the dunghill gamefowl I have wandering around. They are game enough to scrap with each other all day long but not so game that they will kill each other.

They are young. Those proportions can get better over the next couple of months; I've seen that many times -- I came close to culling a BB last year -- that whole rate of growth thing always throws me. The first one's weight is is also lower. The second one, if you actually measure his body length, thigh and shank lengths, taken with his weight, he is medium station. I couldn't get him to be still for the pics, the pullets are about wild. Again, they are young. But they are games. I'm always amazed at the many looks.

I like them. What is KFCer to one may be a prize for someone else. Thanks for your input.

They are young. I'd like to see them in a few months after the one in the 1st pick gets his feathers in, and I love the look of the 2nd one. Just a guess at their age, 1st pic is around 6 months, and the other is around 8 months. I had a few this year that looked like the one in the first pick from 4-6 months. Thought about culling them, and ended up glad I didn't. Some times they outgrow that awkward stage.

I know this is a little off the topic. But here's a pic of my new grey pullet. Sorry it's not the best pick.

Just a side note...

Just because someone has an orange "game" chicken, doesn't mean it's a Hulsey. The original Hulsey fowl have earned their names, and not because of their color, so keep that in mind when someone claims to have pumkin Hulsey's, as 99% of the people that claim to have them just have orange colored dunghills. When I see people peddling these so called Hulsey's, and show pics of cocks standing side by side like they are old pals, it just drives me nuts. Gamefowl should be game first and foremost. If they aren't, you would be better off calling them OEG, as it would be more accurate....

Excuse my little rant, but it's one of my pet peeves.

The vast majority of people who are breeding Hulseys nowadays are not breeding them for their gameness. They are peddling them off as "pretty" orange colored birds and people are buying them up for that very reason.. The same thing with the Arkansas Travelers.
