I have seen birds in same locations a few years back. I watched them at length. At that time I could see evidence of domestic (production and game) mixed into almost every family group. Even the original stocks brough by Polynesians differed markedly from red jungle fowl. I think the game blood actually promoted the existing red jungle fowl look. All feral chickens I saw were considerably larger than typical wild red jungle fowl.
