Show Off Your Games!

darn.. if i still had my games, id ship. ive had no trouble getting my free range games to lay in their houses, but the layer and meat crosses were stupid and just layed were ever they happened to be at the time. i had a special neat house made, and they preferred to lay and roost in the goat and dog houses. they were the cheapest and easiest birds to keep, as usually went off and even brought home own food which was even rats and large snakes, and never had predator troubles, that my birds didnt take care of themselves (i kept a low watt bulb on out by their houses at night so they could see if anything attacked them). even my buddy who i told could play with them, but dont touch the chicks, cause if they cry out, the hens will cut your face like like you were a bad mexican whore. well he did.. also, my games layed everyday, each (which is more than i can say for the crappy layers, and mixes even). so not sure what mutts or inbreds some keep, but they are the least trouble of any pet ive had, to keep (and ive had alot).

thank you, oldhound.

laughingdog, do you know what type of game you had? thanks for the info.

i mostly kept sid taylors, butchers, and sweaters, though to be realistic i didnt get them directly from those breeders, so they would more just be called OEG and forget what other types would be called (its like calling a line originally bred by DR. magoo, magoos wen the breeder has nothing to do with the breeding line anymore of those, so youd think youd differ to the name of breed, not far off line it came from). that being said, the sids did act and look just like line from original breeder/developer, but dont recomend as the hens even are so darn mean theyll kill a cock they dont feel is worthy of breeding (just lost another cockerel that started crowing the one day early in morn, and next morn it was killed and torn apart by the hens, so i was fed up and got rid of the starters of the trouble, and another bantam roo has started crowing and he is happily still alive! though now will have to rehome him.. sadly (unless i find a more chicken friendly place).

also i mostly just fed good but cheap dog food mainly, but also some chick feed, layer pellets, and feeder roaches. though everything but the dry dog food, seemed to rich for them. they do like dried crushed egg shells though, but couldnt get them to like the crushed oyster shell. it wasnt me who chose to keep my chickens redneck, they just preffered it, so thats what worked for them so i went along with it. they did alot better than the neighbor's game bird farm, were they have all the fancy stuff (but i admit some darn beautiful typed birds!!!),but escaped/loose roos would come up and try to take on mine, and mine would send them packing, or id save and toss back into woods (i tried keeping the one roo, and few cockerals, and my siyds wouldnt let them breed and killed them. so pretty much just treat them like dogs (well if you would treat your dogs decent enough at least).

They are definitely not the same, further research and study into the breeds will make it easier to distinguish between them and give you a good idea what to look for.

1 rooster to 1 hen per pen, and even then you can have trouble. You do not dub these breeds, would be hard to anyways as they are very tight pea combed with none to very little wattles. By the way Saipan jungle fowl would be the last "oriental", (and I use that term loosely) that I would invest time and money in, imho.
