Show Off Your Games!

wow! This may be a spupid question but how long is their life span?
It varies, but on our farm 9-12 is very consistent and a Man on here who I spoke to personally has a 22 year old Rooster. Has to help it get on to the roost pole at night, but still kicking.

Also I am loving the activity in this thread. Always gets me excited when people are chatting about Gamefowl.

How do yall keep predators away from the ones on tethers ?
Our Tethered Roo's are on a rotation and they are inside a chainlinked fence that is about 3 acres. We shot and killed about 10 coyotes and haven't had a problem with birds of prey. Except for when we had some ducks for a little while an owl decided to stop by for a couple of weeks killed 2 ducks and then left. Haven't had a Hawk in about 6 years. We may have just lucked out on location. And the fact that we have American Bulldogs in front and back yard, but I think it is mainly cause of the yapping Chihuahua's. Not much can get past them.

Thats crazy I have never heard of a chicken living that long, something always happens to mine before then. The longest I have ever had one live was about 8 years, but then his son killed him.

Ya, I have always loved Game Birds. My step dad and his family raised them when I was growing up (mostly Green Leg Hatch) and I just like the looks, broodiness and production. Sadly I had to get rid of all mine when we moved, and now all I have is the bantams, would love to get some more standard Games though, So if anyone has eggs that are not to spendy let me know.

I love creles, I wish I had some!! (hint, hint
