My hatch grey, coming back from molt. He looked like a football with legs when he lost his tail!

See what I'm talkin about? It just don't look quite right to me....
Really like this guy... I like the first picture especially.

I see guys on Craigslist selling 'Gilmore Hatches' that are spangled.. The spangling is very subtle and they maintain the typical black red coloring.

This is from RanchoReyes on a southern California Craiglist ad.

Gotta ask... what are greys?
Look at sdm111's avatar. His bird could be called a grey. Greys, when on the wild-type (black-breasted red with duckwing) color pattern, can come in two forms. The first is silver duckwing where all color that is red or brown on a wild-type bird is nearly white. The second is golden duckwing where reds of wild-type bird are replaced with a blondish color and the deep red to brown of the shoulder and often back is reddish-orange. The former is homozygous for the silver gene while the second is heterozygous for it. The silver gene or locus is on the Z-chromosome which means males can have two or one copies of it while females can have one or none. The silver gene can impact reds and browns on many other color patterns as well.

really? Cool! I thought it was possibly a breed.

I don't know what kind of homo this and z that is in my greys but yes that's a grey in my avatar and when I breed greys I get greys. Then there's frost, silverback, buttermilk, etc. sub colors I guess u could call it then lines that cockers refined and put their last name with like law greys it can get confusing at first but after being around it you'll understand. Like the red cock above is a hatch witch is american like the grey, hulsey, radio, Kelso, whitehackle, etc. then famous cocker hatch lines are ruble, McLain, leiper etc. and then on top of that there's leg color like white, yellow, blue, and green. Example of one of my birds would be green legged blue duckwing grey american game.
