Show Off Your Games!

The hills should have been green with grass by this time of year, but 2013 was the worst drought in California's recorded history. Thank you tho for the compliments. Short Video for all to enjoy! let me know which hen/rooster stands out as exceptional quality (in your opinion). I know which ones I like, but I am curious to know what other people like.
I like the peacomb cock and the black hen what is she?

The black hen is mystery. I know the Father was Black Snow (R.I.P.)

I had three lines of black genes... My white spanish game hens threw black chicks (and white chicks).... I had 2 warhorse hens (peacomb brown reds) that bred numerous offspring... and my frosted (birchen color) hen which has had a few offspring.....

I bred so many black hens that I lost track of which parents they came from.. At one point I had more black chickens than anyother color, so I sold off a bunch of them.

Black Snow got his black color from the Spanish Game hens... Her mother probably stems from the Warhorses.

Toe bunching is essential when hatching from multiple families of fowl.

Either that or keeping fowl where the families are each a distinct color variety.

I agree. I need to start keeping better records. I started off as a complete amatuer and have never kept any records (except whats in my head.)

I am still am amatuer lol. Although I always did my best to breed the best and cull the rest. I have always been a free range advocate and I let nature do a lot of my culling. I let them breed freely and then I would guess which parents they came from when they got old enough. I always know the father, but the mothers are sometimes a mystery because my hens share nests.

My neighbor who I aquired my original stock from, always toe punched (the webbing between toes). My originals had punches.

There are about 20 different punches you can use (charts are available online). You simply write down what toe punch goes with which hen or breed, however you desire to keep up with it. It is very simple to do.
