guess you'd call it a throwback cause it came from a ruble pair so I guess someone infused some hulsey somewhere down the line. And the only one of about 60ish chicks I personally hatched.

That hen side looks somewhat like some of mine that also have occasional brothers, uncles, and sons like your "pumpkinish" stag. Some folks have been trying to say some of mine are wheaton, possibly recessive wheaton but I am not ready to smoke their dope yet. When you put my birds and possibly your hen next to a proper wheaton they are easy to tell apart. Wheatons look outright reddish to my eyes while mine and possibly yours look more brownish. They also got lots of pattern and don't have the pumpkin color in flight feathers at all..

Below is what a pullet that had a bad date with raccoon looks like.

Seems like yours has more black and brown penciling than mine. Chicks look the same and your pullet pic before coon show a brighter hackle feather than mine had. Mine almost looked wild type pullet then molted to the current color

I don't think genetic basis is the same between mine and yours. Yours seems to change the black color why mine seems to change the distribution of the black color. Neither look wheaton at level of down coloration. I can tell who is a carrier because on male side the black on breast is delayed until they are almost grown and many feathers have little half moons on outside edge. On hens you can see bars on secondaries.
