If I remember correctly u have more than one male co-existing free range ? How is that possible
I cannot have two cocks together without fighting. Most of my chickens are put away during the day (except mamas with babies). I let all the youngsters out in the afternoon after work. And i usually let one cock and his hens out as well.. supervised of course so they don't kick the fences.
A long time ago i kept all free range. Only one cock ruled the yard with several stags who kept their distance. A pecking order would establish and weaker ones became obvious and they would be culled either thru natural means or I'd find them a new home. Good stags were kept and would hang around until they felt confident enough to usurp the king. Or come to rule if king was lost to coyote or something like that.
I forgot about the new cock I got yesterday and let my Hatch out today and he about hung himself by the spur trying to get him and then the Miner got me in the arm trying to get the Hatch. So all in all today wasn't that bad.
Cover the bird's head you are packing. He will talk less. The talking is what riles the bird on the ground. Too much riling a bird on the ground can get him interested in you even when you are not packing another bird.
