Show Off Your Games!

I like what prarichicken said

I'm new but from my research domestic birds come from crossing games which let to domestic chickens.
They are healthy strong and smart.
The need to be preserved

What do you call these birds
They are not mixed
Each is different i think
Yeah looks like a lot of genetic diversity... You could spend years optimizing your flock with the best offspring. Thats one my favorite part with raising gamefowl... producing amazing gamefowl from a pool of genetic diversity... selecting the best crosses and breeding them with equally good crosses. I stay away from inbreeding and too much line breeding. Although my entire flock is related to eachother in some way or another.

But to each his own. Some people prefer keeping pure breeds, and keep them pure by aquiring matching rooster/hens of the same breed.

It comes down to what you want in the long run... I am still trying to figure that out, and each year my priorities change when I discover a new hatchling I like. Lol

nice coop by the way... a lot of nesting boxes... what rooster are you keeping with those hens?

right on... hes really nice lookng.

Hens often share a nest and just because a hen is sitting on eggs that doesnt mean they are hers. But offspring traits will give you an idicator who the mother was/is. I keep a lot of hens together with one rooster, and I sometimes mistake who the mother was, until they reach maturity when it is easier to tell.

Thanks again for the input, i was mainly wanting to cross my roo with one of my layers just get a good brooder, my last stock (Americaunas) never would hatch eggs for me, they would set for about 7-8 days and then get off of them. So i had to get an incubator, if these RiR's i got become good brooders i wont worry about it and will just get me a game hen and try to breed for color later on.

No disrespect but there's games and then there's games. I believe from my experience with people that want american gamefowl thinking they are like old English games or like bb red game bantams when they are in fact a whole different animal and people that get them not realizing what they get into till it's too late. I personally have had people get in touch with me when their chicks are 6-8 mo. Old wondering what the heck is happening. They just woke up one day and their cute little flock is now a free for all fight. And then they are terrible demon chickens when it's who they are. And a good Kelso is like getting a top tier pit cock from the get go.
