Show Off Your Games!

I just thought I would try some to get my feet wet with gamefowl. They were part of a "cackle surprise". It would be fascinating to know how they are really bred. I've got a pair of the BBBRs an extra bbbr rooster, the wheaten hen, two blue hens a black hen and two black roosters. They have been entertaining but it will soon be time for separate pens.

That rooster is not from pure "game" stock...lol! You are probably pretty close with that description varidgerunner by the looks.

The blacks are a little better conformation wise. A little. I tried to hatch some e-bay eggs last summer but it was late in the season, and I didn't have any luck. I found a guy with some Albanies close by, might have to check him out next spring.

From my understanding, the Old English from Cackle are from a single breeder who has bred and selected the large fowl for years but I cannot recall his name (send them an email and they will probably tell you). I can only say this based upon the LF Old English, that "Junglefowl Old English Game" (that looks like a green legged hatch) I don't know where that came from- may be the same guy.

That being said though: They're not a game by any means, which some here who have kept them and also have true games can probably explain. But, they may make some decent pets or possibly even show stock if you get real lucky and don't attend big shows.
