Show Off Your Games!

Y'all think water just shy of boiling will kill ants? I have an ant pile I need to kill its in my breeder quarters I'm building. Or any other non poisonous way, thanks

if you go to show off your American game thread I have my bird story on that page I think its on the last page
I found your bird story on American Game thread...

I too started with a beautiful Leiper hatch cock, green leg hatch hen and some grey hens ... the original cock passed away a good while ago, but his offpsring with those hens always turned out amazing... I have one good cock left from that line... I named him Fabio and he took over the flock after "de-throning" his father.

He is mixed but mostly Leiper hatch.

a pair of Leiper pullets

This pullet a lighter variant associated with linebreeding back to Hen A. As chick such birds do not stand out and males are much harder to discern other than they are "White Hackle-ish". This condition appears recessive with test matings being made now to confirm and for closer scrutiny of chicks and juveniles. The same allele appears important in promoting the Hen B phenotype where that female is likely to be heterozygous.

Image below enables comparison of same pullet to a closer to wild-type half-sister (right) by another sire that does not appear to carry light colored allele. Second pullet is also a product of linebreeding. Photograph not best but coloration difference most obvious in it is the salmon colored breast of bird on right is largely lacking on the variant.

Nice looking hens.. I can see the difference in breast color (barely). I have some hens that also appear "golden" and have one that looks exactly like the top image.... I will send a picture when I take one this evening... Her breast is light as well.

Hen in question has been brooding clutch for 8 days. Clutched sired by her father. I am expecting to either see what looks to be wheaten (I am doubt this occur) or about 1/2 of brood will be like her and they will be very hard to discern from the darker wild-type.
