Research.

Excellent educational tools. More tolerant of handling than production and ornamental breeds.

Reservoir for genetic variation.

Make excellent arthropod management tools in free-range setting because they are more predator resistant than production / ornamental breeds.

We used to use them for tri-purpose use 1st now illegal, 2nd I for meat, and 3rd for eggs.
