Centra exactly what u looking for? Preferably a wild type mug hen, or secondly a brown red hen or last on list any game hen with brown red attributes?

I looking for hens that throw brown chicks.. When crossed with some of mine should result in redquill. I want to play around with redquill color genetics. I think redquill can be made two ways but some of my birds carry a gene you got to have.

Honestly I thought I was gonna get something a ill deeper than one that throws brown chicks lol. Anyway this is the closest I can get to brown red trait hen ( actually pullet )

For me it is deep. You appear to have a pullet carrying Db which is part of what most consider to be in a redquill. What did she look like at hatch?

She is not the same I am looking for but would yield a very similar result..

See and that's why you're the scientist I just see chicks u see well whatever u see anyway, they were all dark brown with chocolate stripe not black or solid color. Don't know if it would help but the givens hatch may give u the whatever's u need. Sorry I know nothing about genetics so bear with me.

The Db (dark brown) of the Givens is dominant over the wild-type db from the Kelso. That means the offspring favor the Givens where the dark brown plays out.

Gotcha. Since I know greys are always dominate over red. Is anything dominate over grey. Like is there a cross that can be done with a grey where the offspring will look only like the non grey fowl?

Grey overrides red and black on hackles, saddle, wingbow and primaries. It gets complicated on breast when normal black is replaced by red / brown which then can be replaced by white. Silverquill birds can approach being white if brown or redquill cover most of flight feathers.

When my Brown Reds are hatched they are a dark brown with an almost red head.
