So centra let's say I cross a sweater over a N. Roundhead. What should the stags look like? A cross or will one color be recessive or dominate over the other. I want them to look like a cross if they won't then no point in the cross

What I think I know is based on very limited observations. A battle-cross involving our hens bred to what looked like Warhorse cocks with obvious influence with oriental of some sort produced stags that were not as dark as the cock they were out of but still not in the middle colorwise. The cocks used where called Doc Kniefords and hens of which that we did not keep were essentially black with gypsy face and blacks eyes. Legs of those pure birds where a dark grey relative to our Hatch looking green legged birds. Many of the crossed stags looked a lost like brown reds but pullets were wrong color.

Since I no longer have the Doc Kniefords I am not confident in saying what genes are involved. After dealing with some of the "experts" on ornamental chicken genetics, I do not feel comfortable guessing what genes are involved unless I or someone I trust can do test matings involving at least one half of cross you know what is for certain.

Daisy and Dolly are this years pullets

almost 3 years ago i got my first trio of OShamos... i LOVE them, i have raised quite a few since the beginning and here are some of my favorites
Shamrock in the top pic, he has since past on, but so far he was my absolute favorite. he freeranged with a Polish cock whom i don't think he recognized as another roo lol.

these are last years pullets "Rip" and "Tear", they have turned into awesome moms

Shamrock 2 is 9 months old and stands 34" already, i have high hopes for this guy

I have never owned any ducks, but I have been around enough Muscovy ducks to know they are kind of dumpy and awkward... I have a hard time imaging one of these ducks beating up a full grown cock. How do they fight? They dont have spurs or good kicking legs... how do they do it?

He layed on it and was biting his head. He probably couldn't do it to a normal bird but this one doesn't have his left eye..

Nice Shamo's how do your hens do with the other hen breeds ? I heard they were pretty aggressive hens.

Out of your list id go with asil, miners and radios but not spangled and make sure they're real and you're gonna pay. People calling whatever straight comb and yellow leg radios these days cause they getting popular like the sweater.

I think that I'll get the Miners from you and try to get Shamo from Walt on here. Do you know anywhere that has pure Radios ? Or better yet, do you have some ? I planned on asking around before I bought from somebody, and I assume they are getting like Hatch where every bird with red is labeled Hatch.

Oh poor guy. Maybe a surprise attack from the blind side. Those are heavy ducks

Yeah it surprised me more than him probably. I've never seen these ducks do that either. They came from my grandpa's who has game and others. The only thing I could think of was he was trying to breed him then the cock ought back and he just layed on him.

No I don't have or know of any radio within my circle and if I were to get some they would only come from someone I knew unless they were a well known breeder

K Well just have to wait and see thanks

I think I'll just wait. But if you do find some I would like to get some from you. On another note I've been working on those pallet pens like crazy. Also @sdm111 I don't know if it's headed there or not but y'all be careful cause with this rainstorm that left us yesterday filled a 5 gallon bucket up over night
