Thanks again for the input, i was mainly wanting to cross my roo with one of my layers just get a good brooder, my last stock (Americaunas) never would hatch eggs for me, they would set for about 7-8 days and then get off of them. So i had to get an incubator, if these RiR's i got become good brooders i wont worry about it and will just get me a game hen and try to breed for color later on.
I think it would be a cool experiment... RiRs could use some gameness... but like SDM be careful that the young roosters are watched carefully, especially when the 6-8month mark comes around.

My friend bred Americauna Grey rooster over my hatch game hen I gifted... and they produced some mean little bearded stags, but the hens turned out perfect for free ranging and brooding.

understandable sdm, for me, a Rooster is a rooster, other than the overall look of the rooster and the presence they give my flock and their crow, it doesnt really matter to me what breed they are. i came by my kelso mainly because i could provide a home for it, my aunt was getting rid of all of her ex old mans game roosters, and the ones she didnt get rid of were going to die ect. so i will home him until i find some1 close that has something more my style for trade or i come across a game hen to start my own breeding project. I am not sure what type of person would blame the chicken for doing what chickens do, especially games. a few of my family members had games and even took part in that profession. As far as my kelso goes and him being in the same pin as all of my hens, it really has a good feel to it. there is just some 'commanding' feel he has, especially changing from a laying breed rooster. from my exp. with laying roosters all they did was breed the hens. but man, with this game in the pin with them, i dont know it just really feels like he is keeping them in line i suppose lol.

Good they are getting along but the first sentence " a rooster is a rooster " well........no a roosters not a rooster with games. Anyway I'll leave it at that good luck with your fowl he is a nice healthy looking bird.

lol, that is why 'for me' was ahead of that. meant to state that i am just a casual chicken raiser and as long as a rooster can throw off healthy chicks, to me he is a rooster. I can see you are pretty hardcore as far as games go, and props to you on that, everyone needs something they love and really 'get into' so to speak. Thanks for the compliment to my rooster, and thanks for your information, whatever i do i will be careful, and i am not one to blame chickens for doing chicken things. I do hope i didnt disrespect you in anyway, and if i did i apologize. was just trying to give a little backstory to me coming into possession of this kelso and my experience as far as chickens go. You would probably have a much better home for him than i have though with your amount of knowledge and love for the breed, and i notice we are in the same state so if you are ever in the ft. polk area feel free to holler at me with something to trade for him if you want! would love a random breeding pair of banties lol. but anywho send me a private message if interested :)

Prolly about 2hrs away I'm in st tammany. No disrespect here hope I didn't offend. Games are truly awesome beautiful chickens but it's different husbandry than layers. We all started somewhere but IMO it's better to reset yourself to default when starting from layers lol.
