Show Off Your Games!

Another hawk attack today while we watched. Wife and I were trying to decide if big bird in tree was a crow or a hawk. It dove straight down and hit a hen. Rooster knocked him off,and crows chased it away. I retrieved hen had blood coming out of her mouth. Is up and walking now. They were in the lower soybean field in the wide open.
What is the breed of your rooster? It would be more than great if u could film roosters attack to hawk.

Sometime I root for the hawk cause I know they got to eat too. There are plenty of chickens and not enough hawks.. (at least in my area).
There:
Is a video where hawk has gotten a hen, and owners are just watching. On negative comments the answer was: The hawks need to eat too, and in comments was 1vs3 about this, allow hawks eat your birds or no.
I know its natural(almost) about this ''hawks need to eat too''
But there is a very good expresion: You are responsible about they who you accustoming.
Hope I translate It plain to english.

Where I'm at the raptors have enough to eat so nah I ain't feeding none. But they dang sure try. While back had one wrapped in my elec. Fence burnt to a crisp and had a huge dent in one of my round pens starting about 6" high. Lost a few before the fence was up. Just the crops ate out.

Redtails are pretty scarce around here... The perch up high above open fields and people will pull over to take pictures...

I have never seen a redtail go after my chickens... but my chickens freak out when they are around... Its only the coopers hawks that come down after baby chicks (that I have seen). I have seen kestrels as well, but dont think they go after chicks (maybe)

I did not understand that translation @GhettoRoo ... please translate to American lol

You are responsible about those who you tame.
That makes much more sense. Yeah you are right. Feeding predators is a bad idea...

I think as human overpopulation gets worse, only the animals that can co-exist with humans will survive. Pigeons, rats, crows... etc. Unfortunately a lot of animals wont make the cut. Some animals are trying hard to survive with us, but that transforms them to "pests".. for example; coyotes, bears, and wolfs all have a bad reputaion... we encroach on their native lands and then get mad when they mess with our livestock. This is their hunting grounds. We cant keep pushing these animals to the brink. They cant fight back against us, and if people continue with the human domination attitude we wont have these animals in our future. Coyotes are out of control because there is no wolf or bear population to keep them in check... same goes for racoons and other "vermin".

Most of you seem to live in Rural areas, and probably dont see any need to save or conserve these animals... I ecourage you all to take a visit to the city and see what life is like without these animals or nature. Its aweful and it has giving me a life long hatred for human expansion/encroachment.

Thats my rant...

Sound wildlife management is needed since humans have already altered the landscape too much to completely coexist peacefully. For example in California coyotes wouldn't be out of control if the state would allow other forms of trapping besides cage traps.
Just to be clear it is hunters/fishermen dollars that pay to maintain healthy populations of these animals for all to enjoy. Snapping photos only helps the photographer get a warm fuzzy feeling.
By the way I live in NJ and work in Philadelphia. I know plenty about cities, traffic etc..
