Show Off Your Games!

I'm with you on this Roosterhavoc. I have very little knowledge on genetics myself. I always say that the proof is in the product. Some people on here
know little about genetics and they breed some of the best birds I have ever seen. Then some throw out some fancy genetic talk and show birds that I wouldn't look twice at. It is boring. But if we don't like it we don't have to read it. The better breeder always creates the best birds.
yep you said it perfectly.

Proof is in the product. Many if not most of the most successful producers of gamefowl invest considerably in understanding how breeding systems can be used to promote improvement and sometimes simply maintenance of a quality line. The do not simply breed the best to best. They also do a lot of testing, especially when making crosses involving matings from different lines as sometimes best of best with such an approach can result in crap. For what I do which is not limited to games by a long shot, I must look at many matings and compare offspring of those matings. It is not just about quality of an individual, it is also about quality of an individuals siblings and offspring. Individuals that are good and have quality kin get major consideration over others where only an individual is good. To make the required, comparisons you need to be able to track genealogies and sometimes use a little math, Parties so vested also have enough interest in the heritabiltiy of other traits as that can sometimes be employed as a tool confirming parentage. With some parties not engaging in single matings using good confinement, that would also be a good tool. I do not know of too many people interested in any activity that brag about or refuse to learn more about what they are doing. The genetics can also be used to confer genealogies of birds not from your hands.

I agree with you on that Centra. But this is a show off your games thread. With all the knowledge you seem to have about genetics I would expect you to show some amazing gamefowl. Please don't be offended but I personally never saw it in your birds. I have bought gamefowl from some of the best breeders, because of the quality of their product and family lineage. That's proof enough.

I haven't seen where anyone is bragging or refusing to learn about what they're doing. Quite the opposite. Gamelife put it simply. I would like to see the few gamefowl breeding gurus here compare their birds with that of just about anybody else that breeds best to best. Then go down the list of attributes that make yours better or more perfect than the others. Or at the very least show us the real world benefits of all the scientific talk.
Let's see em sissy! :plbb

Birds you post and appear to have way too much oriental for my taste which is why something I like does not tickle your fancy. Mine are something different and they have a linkage to me that yours will never have because yours were a product of someone else labor. You could loose everything you have tonight and simply go out and by more from the same breeders get back to where you are know. You also invest heavily in the pretty pictures while I invest a great deal me more in recording behavior. I sadly admit to failing miserably in your approach that is like trying to get a pretty high stepping human model in that special lip puckering bikini shot like you do with your high station birds.

Wait till spring and In will show pictures of cocks, hens, stags and hens used in my breeding efforts. They will surely bore with their red coloration and low station but they will be evidence for a concerted breeding effort.

I don't know about the rest of you guys but every chicken I own Is available for pictures immediately. My birds don't fly south for the winter, ain't gotta wait till spring for them to come back.

I hate to go out take pictures in night shot mode just to tickle you. You can wait just as I will. I can keep you up on the behavior side of things so you can actually learn something. The pics can be more real time for your needs so can get your jollies. I can include lineage, generation and ID along with dates.

Anyone have suggestions on breeds to start breeding I have some greys and lacy Roundheads and crosses between but I like to get a few more bloodlines
I was thinking hatch or kelso or maybe blue booms
Because if you mix a blue with a grey it sometimes will come out smoke colored and that looks awsome and blues are super game so are greys
And I have a friend who has some all white roosters I don't know what they are I've only seen some poor quality photos but I think he said white hackle or somthing idk I'm new to this.

Oh and can anyone tell me what my profile picture is my cousin said he was pea suit but I have never heard of such a thing - he was a retired fighter (that's where his eye went) and was one of joy favorite birds (darn coyotes)

When it comes down to it the only thing that mattered is what happened when the steel was strapped. Keep em game keep them what they are. It's in their heart!
