Show Off Your Games!

so just got a pm saying that certain parts have been deleted....which is fine do what you do...however how is someone supposed to learn about things and what to look for...in incidents to stay away from... if we censor our youths perception on certain things and hide things from them...it only makes things worse...because they see things for the first time and think it is normal or ok because they were never taught any different and they will more then likely be around it with their peers at the time of incident...thats y you see the people doing these things get younger and younger...cause were not teaching them...i would love to get into games....thats y i am on here to learn...see who posts what birds and how knowledgeable they are...cause anyone can sit on a computer and type... or rat someone out for that matter....however i would like to know the negative part before anything....like what to expect...if they are aggressive to kids, or to other roosters....as so on and so on...by censoring certain parts in life only keeps people away from reality on what part of our society has become and it would have helped people to learn what to look out for....for there own needs so they can stay on a good path...so i appreciate the debate about these issues as like said before background in law enforcement gets me different perspectives...also culture plays a big role in some of these things...as white i dont really have anything to cultural to do with chickens other then raising them...however my girl who is hmong...now thats a different story...many chickens are used for spiritual things such as weddings and funerals...and they have there thai game chickens...which i can get no problem...so just had to post of pic of the mean creatures...we were just talking about...

Haha...Go 'Okie Doky' lol. Y'all have a great weekend...I'm out!

I enjoyed our discussion. I admire anyone who is not afraid to engage in a robust discussion. I think the fact that we are gamefowl owners say a lot about us as people and it also means that we do not back down very easy. I think "Certain" people don't understand what it means to be Game and think there is something wrong the two people who are having a hardy robust discussion. This is the gamefowl thread, not the pansy thread. It was an honor to have a meaningful discussion with kindred spirit like you. Have a blessed weekend.

BTW JShubin good post #10509. I try to get good chickens, but i don't 'test' anything either. I've let chickens reproduce, don't see a problem with that either. I'm currently considering crossing my blacks over some good grey's and making some Black Greys. I don't see any problem with crossbreeding to other breeds either as long as they are properly identified. People have crossed them over other breeds many times, that's where most of the Black Brested Red/Partridge colors in layers and dual purpose breeds come from. That's the neat thing about chickens. If you cross breed dogs to introduce new colors etc, they are not considered pure but crossbreeding is the main way to introduce new colors into breeds and as long as they're close to the standard they are considered pure right? Some people enjoy breeding to standards and some of us like to play around with our chickens, hatching and seeing what we get after all they are just chickens!

Speaking from only our experience, the black greys my boyfriend has made have all been great. I believe he crossed Grey over black, though, & of course it all depends on each person's stock. Just the other day I saw a black grey chick (about bantam size-i don't know the age) pen-sparring with our Dom hen. It was funny.

Just picked up some eggs from these guys from a friend of mine, I am still really new to game birds! I have 3 stags produced by this rooster myself... But I haven't done my research on hens.... and am just starting! So what are these? LOL I know... I am horrible... LOL!

Those would be called Greys. More specifically hatch grey or golden duckwing because of the red and brown markings. They all have different leg colors so I suspect they are mixed breed. Hens are straight combed but the cock looks like he was a pea comb before being dubbed (because of the small scar on the top of the head compared to the wide scars left behind on straight combs. Although I may be wrong.)

Do you have any pictures of the stags?

You should talk to the person who gave you the chickens and get their history.

Yeah I was suprised I got a stag that had 100% of his moms markings (Black grey) even tho his father was BBR.

This is the full brother of the that previous black grey stag. This guy only has the grey but not the black gene, and somehow his legs are yellow ... dont ask me how that happened. lol

My brother and me did it all the time growing up. My Mom hated it. Some people aren't as concerned with debating, more concerned about having peace. To those who view our spirited debate as a disruption, my apoligies. To those with whom I debated, much respect.

WiteHouseFarms...I agree, those are probably a Hatch/Grey cross based on the color and that is a popular cross. You can often see with pretty good accuracy when you're looking at a Hatch or a Grey etc. but when they've been crossed it's really anybody's guess. The only way to know for sure is like JShubin said, go talk to the owner/breeder. A Grey/Hatch cross isn't a pure Grey or a pure Hatch, but it is pure game, good ones too!

I've been doing some more research on this and a lot of folks use black over grey too. Where I was reading to cross black over grey was so that the broodhen could throw her color/traits to the stags I believe. Got pictures? You are right, it would also depend on what line of greys and blacks you're working with. Some cross them both ways depending on what they're looking to get out of them and some just use what they have to work with too!

Edit - I meant Grey over Black in the first sentance.
