Nice looking. Cool pattern on his chest... looks like leiper mixed with some sort of brown red?

Is he a specific breed or mix?
Gorgeous bird! The father is Lieper and the mother may be a brown red. I just threw my Pretty Boy (my avatar) in with a mix of five hens last year to get some fresh birds. Two of the hens were Brown Reds. That chest color pattern has appeared only twice in all my breedings so I believe it is coming from one of my hens because the father is the same (My Avatar pic). Here is the other one with that chest coloring.

X2Gorgeous bird!
One or both of the brown red hens must be red quill or have a lot of it in them and was your rooster's mom . The Tell-Tale sign is the light brown flakes in his breast ... which is indicative of Red Quills . A Brown Red rooster will have a Black breast (hens can come solid black or black w/golden brown stripes in neck) . The darker red Leiper rooster(one's i've seen)will be a *Black Breasted Red* or Wheaten (only difference between BBR & Wheaten , is BBR has black bow on wing(usually darker red rooster) and Wheaten has brown on wing bow(usually a lighter red rooster w/Black breast) ... with hens the difference can be extreme) . Well to set the record straight "a 'Brown Red' is an actual cross of a Black (over or under) a Black Breasted Red and/or Wheaten". (thus black breasted) Beautiful bird you got there .The father is Lieper and the mother may be a brown red. Reread what i said ...... and ....... i did not say 'the hen was the mother of the father' ...... re-read and think .....Thanks. The father I got from once place and BR hens I got from another, so there is no chance of the hen being the mother of the father. Here is my BR hen.
