Show Off Your Games!

I’ve still got a varmint getting into my birds. Seems to get quail sized or a little bigger. No crime scene. They just grab them and leave. I suspect a fox again. Got 6 roundhead pullets and 10 black crossed chicks. I’ve got my thermal sighted in now. Guess I’ll spend the night waiting on it. Again. This has already gotten old.

Are you using a game camera. I find the bad guy comes in a lot more often than what bird losses would indicate. Camera helps me put out more effective foot-hold trap for fox.

I’m not. I do have one. I need to dig it up and use it. It’s one that’ll send text to my phone when it senses motion. If I can figure out how to set that thing up.

Mine are lower end than that. I just try to make certain the time and date are properly set. You can almost set clock based on my fox buddies because they swing by at same time each 24 hours. I work out what fox does over a few visits, then set trap to be armed and baited when fox comes in. In my case dogs have to be penned so they do not get into trap. Fox comes in to mess around , then it disappears with dogs photographed moments later in same spot.

This gal went broody yesterday. She and two other hens in this pen system all getting mated to cock in background. I move cock between pens by opening gate between pens where he steps through a hole before gate closed to prevent hens from going through or fighting. The hens all have well developed spurs which does not always agrees with what goes on around hatching time. I shoved an additional 6 American Dominique eggs under this one this morning. Even though starting almost a day later, they well hatch with games because the American Dominique consistently hatch about half a day quicker than the games. My Aseels are even slower.
