Hey Nice birds Chief I like the look of the first kelso hatch cross and the assils look very nice. I like the idea of tethering the birds my grandpa use to say it was the only way to keep them happy? We should trade some assil eggs if you are interested mine are laying but I don’t know for how long it will last? I have some eggs in the bator now and some of my Spanish cross broody hatched me some chicks, so fertility looks good

Thanks P&J! Mine are still too young to be giving me any eggs yet. And with the climate up here it might take till spring. I'm going to miss being able to hatch almost year round, like I could in Florida.

I got this game-type pullet as a chick from a local farm a while back. I have a sister and brother of hers too. I really like them, I told them that when they have chicks again to call me, and I'll come get them all, they just give them away if I can catch them. They have a large free-range flock that they never feed or do anything with, they just keep on breeding and living on their own.

Any ideas on what sort of game she is?

Hard to tell. Her legs look a little on the blue side in the picture. I had some that were out of a hatch rooster(green legs) and a roundhead hen(pearl legs). Some of the pullets came blue legged and light feathered like yours.

A few months ago, I posted about one of our chicks getting rejected by the others. We separated "her," named her Marilyn because she was blonde, and put her in with our standard chickens. Not too long ago, she started fighting with the Cochin roosters we have in that pen, and we began to realize that Marilyn was a he. Today, he's quite a big boy and he already has a booming crow (he's only been crowing for a few days). He has great feathering, although we finally had to clip his wings because he kept flying over the electrified poultry fencing and roosting in the trees.

Here he is today, in his own pen with his two girls. From what I've been told, he's a Pinto/Hennie cross.
