I love it!! I thought we were the only ones with a house duck! After our female was killed last year, our drake turned into a "chicken"… not that I blame him, since he watched a hawk viciously attack the love of his life! Since then, Dixie hasn't left our side! We love our duck!!

Yep I know exactly what you mean....Floki, out of nowhere will just run up on my shoulder and start picking through my hair.

I don't mind, cuz she love it.

Is she an Ancona? She is gorgeous! I love the mixed black and white!

Are his feet dirty or just spotted with black? Is he a full peking? I thought they were supposed to be solid orange on their bill and feet, which is why we aren't really sure what ChaCha is - she's got black spots on her bill but plain orange feet.
Do all drakes have that fuffy crown? My ancona drake has a huge one and it makes me laugh cause he looks like a doofus compared to his sleek beautiful mate.

She is beautiful!! Lol does she peck at your feet too? My hair is long, past my waist. I wouldn't mind if I had short hair. It just scares me that Quackers will get my hair stuck in his stomach.

How do you register them?

And it's amazing, you're right, they force you out of bed and they put a smile on your face. A lot of Veterans are using ducks for this reason.

You just gotta fill out some paperwork with an organization such as the Humane Society or Pet Partners, pay a fee, take a training course and the wait for them to approve it and send you the little vest and certificate.

Those are little black spots on his feet! He's a Pekin, so I'm not sure why he has spots on his feet; our female didn't have them. He only puffs up his crown when he has something important to say - like the cats or dog are too close to Daddy

I have missed this site so very much! I haven't been able to get online very often & my office has blocked anything fun. Look at all of these beautiful duckies since I've been here! Cherish them, house ducks are very special.

I really wish I could have been able to finally log in with good news or something happy but I just have my heartbreak of my Daisy girl passing away last night. I have no clue what happened but when I came home from work for cuddles after letting the dogs outside she was lying in her bed. I'm crying as I type this. I figured you all may understand the heart ache. It's not like I can tell just anyone who will get it. I love her & I'm so miserable without her.

Oh sweetheart, I'm so, so sorry...how old was she? Did she at least go peacefully? And I don't care who you are, if someone brushes off your grief just because they don't understand what it's like to be a house duck owner then they have no soul. A beloved pet is a beloved pet. Our hearts are with you and your feathered baby.
