Show off your house ducks!

Ah, right-o. I've tried fermented feed before, and it didn't turn out so hot. I don't think I left it long enough and it was still all yeasty. I'm willing to give it another try, but my hubby, not so much, hehe! He said the smell was AWFUL. Also will it keep in the fridge, or would that just kill off the bacteria?
Needs to be kept at room temp. I put mine in a hall way off my main hallway where my washing machine and dryer sit. I can smell it but to me it smells good, mainly because I have feed, split peas, garlic, oregano, kelp, flax seeds, so it smells like an Italian restaurant. lol Oh yeah and brewers yeast along with the ACV and hot water. My dh says it stinks too. I always have a bucket fermenting while I am feeding out of one.

I'm gonna make a test batch in a smaller container first and see how it goes. I just hope it works. :/ I think another issue before is that I gave it to him too young. Maybe he aspirated it and that's why he got his URI.

Ok, I've just got to ask: aren't you worried about getting diseases from your indoor birds??? I understand that most of you keep your birds very sanitary, but just naturally, poultry have a tendency of picking bugs up. I personally know this: When I rescued my first chicks, the person that helped me with the sicklier chick ended up getting swimmer's rash directly from the bird. Wouldn't you be worried about that kind of thing? I'm just curious, please don't get offended.

Nope! Wobbles is fully immunized and gets a preventative dewormer three times a year.

...Also he sucks at catching bugs. Like, really, really sucks at it.

Well I had mentioned before about Pickles pulling Sassy' s flight feathers out. Well I noticed he wasn't just pulling them he was pulling them and EATING them. Crazy right?? So I thought maybe he needs more protein so I scrambled up some eggs Sassy loved them, Pickles wouldn't touch them. So I thought maybe they just weren't happy indoors. So I fixed up my 28 ft very heavy chicken tractor for them. It has at least 5 times more room. Put them in and everything was going well. Went inside to get their food and came out to a horrible scene. Pickles was chasing Sassy around the chicken tractor pulling feathers and eating them and she's trying to get away but can't making this gurgled screaming sound. Im yelling/crying trying to get to her but I cant. I finally go super woman and lift the whole thing on its side and grab her. Now she's inside not bleeding and safe. And my mini nervous breakdown is over. And Pickles is in the chicken tractor pouting.

Yes but maybe next weekend I can go back to the flea market where I happened to find them. Because that guy had like 20 adult Muscovy ducks males and females and I will get him a couple of girlfriends. Then I can put them with him for a couple of weeks then let them free range with my chickens. That's my idea anyway. What do you think?? Sassy on the other hand is a totally different duck. She's been roaming around a lot more relaxed then I have ever seen her.

Keep Sassy inside with you for now, and get your drake more females at that swap meet. If that doesn't solve the problem, I don't know what will. Poor lil' Sassy girl!

Usually starter feed gives some immunizations to illnesses like that. well at least our brand helps to immune them .

Good idea, I don't know about being too young though all my hatchlings start out with the ff, I just don't add the split peas just feed to begin with. Hope he likes it the little spoiled rotten thing... lol He sure is cute though.
