Show off your house ducks!

I wish I could get a video! It's so unexpected, but maybe I can trick her into doing it on camera
Lady Gray! I lovethat name! I'm going to spend all week calling mine "Lady ChaCha" LOL
YAY! You are awesome for helping me with that! I think I got a nice medium width strap too they should help!
Please please see if you can get her to honk and on film. It will put me into orbit.

Yeah...I can't wait until my throat's all healed. Grumble. And now for something completely different: NAPPY BEAN! (Man, why can't this one fit the file size for the calendar?)
She is so cute. Look at her little face. In my entire life I have never seen a duck with those colors.

o my word. Now that is 2. Just curious, do you guys have any idea on the parents by looking at the coloring of this one and Bean? Cuz you guys will see a bibbed or pied whatever and deduce the parents'breed. Does that make sense? Or does Bean have some boomerang of a coloring gene? Like a mutation?

Well, here is what SweetFolly said:

'No such thing as a Calico Call. Well, not really. I have a pet-quality Call drake that I suppose you could call "Calico", but he's actually a Blue Bibbed that's heterozygous for extended black, so he's "leaking" Blue Fawn patches through the Blue. He's mis-marked, that's all. It's not a color you could breed for, it's not stable. Just a oddity that cropped up.'

We are new to this thread and I was wondering, does anyone have any good duck diaper patterns? I am having a terrible time finding one, but I'd really like to try sewing my own.

Yeah, I posted that in the call duck thread not long ago. It's still pretty dang rare, from the sounds of it. Maybe it doesn't breed true because she never had a similar hetero black/blue to mate him with? I'm still curious to try! No idea who Bean's parents are, as the lady I got her from kept all her ducks together. Next season I'm gonna ask if she has any more pop up like her, so perhaps we can work together on a little breeding experiment of our own!
